Our Story
always on the move
Soft + Wild
I've always been the one walking the beach looking down.
The one who can't pass up a pretty shell, who somehow always comes home with more than I planned, and who could spend hours wandering the shoreline looking for little treasures.
I'm Caitlin, the woman behind Coastal Wolf Co. I'm a wife, a mom of four, and someone who has always felt a little more like herself near the water.
Our family of six lives in Ohio, so unfortunately the ocean isn't right outside our back door. But that hasn't stopped us from finding our way to it.
We love to travel and camp together. A few times a year, we load up our camper, pack up the kids, and head south to Florida. Some trips take us back to beaches we've fallen in love with, while others are all about exploring somewhere new. And we're hoping to keep making our way along more and more of the coastline as the years go by.
Some of my favorite memories are the simple ones. Bare feet in the sand, the kids exploring, pockets full of shells, and those days where nobody's in much of a hurry to be anywhere else.
And somewhere along the way, all those little treasures started becoming something more.
How It All Started
I started making shell rings for myself.
There wasn't some big business plan behind it. I just loved the shells I'd collected during our travels and wanted a way to turn them into something I could wear. A little piece of the ocean to carry with me when we were back home in Ohio.
Eventually, I made one for a friend.
Then she started getting questions about hers. And almost every time I wore one of my own, someone would ask me about it.
Where did you get that? Did you make it? Do you sell them?
Those little conversations kept happening, and I started realizing maybe there were more women out there like me.
Women who felt that same pull toward the ocean. Who collected shells on vacation, kept little reminders of places they'd been, and wished they could take a little bit of that feeling home with them.
And that's really how Coastal Wolf began.
Why Coastal Wolf?
The coast is the obvious part.
It's where I feel inspired, where I'm always collecting little treasures, and where so much of what I create begins.
The wolf is the other side of it.
Wild, intuitive, independent, and a little untamed.
I've never wanted Coastal Wolf to feel perfectly polished or mass produced. I wanted it to feel natural, personal, and a little different.
Pieces found in nature, made by hand, and created for women who feel a little bit of both.
A little soft. A little wild.
a little soft. a little wild.
Pieces found in nature, made by hand.
collected along the coast
Collected Along the Coast. Made by Hand.
Every shell used in my rings is one I've personally collected during our family's travels.
I think that's one of my favorite parts of all of this.
Before a shell ever becomes a ring, it was something I spotted while walking along a beach somewhere. Maybe the kids were playing nearby, maybe we were exploring a new stretch of coastline, or maybe it was one of those mornings where I could wander the shoreline for as long as I wanted.
I bring those shells home, sort through them, and slowly turn them into pieces of jewelry.
No two shells are exactly the same, and I wouldn't want them to be.
I make everything by hand in small batches, and each ring carries a little piece of somewhere we've been.
I love knowing those little treasures eventually find their way to someone else, becoming part of her everyday life and maybe even her own story.
This Is Just the Beginning
Coastal Wolf started with a few rings I made for myself, but it's slowly becoming something I never really planned for.
I have so many ideas for what this little brand could grow into, but I'm also enjoying creating it as I go.
More coastlines to explore. More shells to collect. More things to make.
And hopefully a whole community of women who understand why you can never just walk past a beautiful shell.
I'm really glad you found your way here.
We're all called to the water.
With love,
Caitlin
